Besides this doll's hair?
Beautiful new dolls!
Queens of Africa!
I just read a post on Doll Observers, one of my favorite doll blogs, about Queens of Africa...new dolls created by Taofick Okoya.
From Tillie's post... "Nigerian businessman Taofick Okoya created a line of dolls called Queens of Africa. The dolls, which come in a variety of skin tones, fashions and hairstyles, came about after he saw the impact that having white dolls had on his young daughter."
Tillie then links to an article on The Root, with Queens of Africa doll designer Okoya talking to Forbes.
Thanks for the heads up on these dolls, Tillie!

And these dolls are available now!

Dress up!
The dress up fashions on the Little Darling dolls this week are a combination of Tonner Ellowyne clothes and dresses from individual Ellowyne dressmakers.
Talented dressmakers design and sew beautiful clothes like the cream and brown dress on our little brunette, Rosa.
And blonde Birdy wears an original Tonner dress from Change of Season Lizette.
Robert Tonner's massive doll company clothes their Ellowynes in well made, fashionable outfits. Some outfits can be bought separately.

Pretty Ellowyne shoes were chosen for each outfit. But alas, the fashion doll's foot is more slender... Flats it is girls! Easier to run around in!

Updates in progress!
Several of these 16" Ellowynes dresses are Tonner fashions.

Dolltowners were enjoying some glorious spring weather this week! Photos and flowers!
But on a rainy day I spent some time looking through old Dolltown photo albums and laughed at photos of Boneka (our wooden and cloth Indonesian doll) arriving in Dolltown.

Those photos made it into a flashback post this week...

Hey! There's Tink with no pigtails!
But it was the Little Darlings who got most of the photo action, again this week!
Last week we mentioned...You-Know-Who is a member of a Facebook group that is celebrating a first year anniversary. The girls were invited!
And the Little Darlings had so much fun dressing up in the Ellowynes' fancy dresses for the Facebook party!
They met some new friends, ate ice cream, twirled in their dresses and didn't want to change back into their own clothes!

Image
Birdy, still in her cream Lizette dress, even hopped in the car a couple of times, and headed off...
...to Art Knapps garden store where she pretended the terrariums were doll display cases.
...and to Daphne's Garden, where she discovered more birdhouses!
And peonies!
Watch for photos on our Gallery.
And a blog post...lots of flower photos with dollies!

From a review:

What an amazing deal for the price...40 postcards plus 4 pages of stickers, a totally different idea to color and personalize set of adorable dolls. I have always loved the "Campbell's Soup Kids" with their innocent chubby faces, so this caught my eye immediately. The paper is of a heavier weight, perfect for laying down and shading both pencil and pen easily. The added stickers are a lovely compliment to further personalize each picture. I am thrilled with my purchase, just what I needed to help me get through a cold Buffalo winter. In fact, I loved this so much that I am going back and purchasing the other book of dolls and their accompanying outfits. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this set to both beginner and advanced artists!!
