What's New in the Doll World...

Valentine's Dolls!

Before we talk about those new 2016 Barbie bodies (tune in next week) let's check out the Valentine's Barbies that have been available over the years...

The Fashion Doll Guide has included over 40 photos of Valentine Barbies over the years!

"The first official Valentine Barbie was the B Mine, released in 1993....

In addition to the regular Valentine Dolls...(there is) the popular Superstar era Loving You Barbie and the stunning Bob Mackie Design Queen of Hearts from 1994."

In my hunt for Valentine dolls, I ran across an old doll-making company called Valentine Doll, Inc. which made plastic and vinyl ballerina dolls in the 1950's and 60's. The dolls were distributed mostly by mail order. The Valentine Dolls have also been found in Happi Time boxes from Sears.

What's New in Dolltown...

A piano!

We have scored a Schoenhut red piano!

One of our girls, Chantal, has been longing for a piano.

She plays, she sings...

And I am sure she is not the only one here with music skills up their dolly sleeves.

Waiting in the wings is a photo shoot with the girls trying out the new piano in their music class at school.

What excitement!

It's so fun to hear them...

You can imagine!

(Well, that's what I do, right?)

What's New in Fashion in Dolltown...

Valentine dresses!

Or whatever style we have in pink!

We have to get creative with ribbons and other accessories, with only 2 wardrobe items with hearts here in Dolltown.

And so much available out there in the Doll world!

Doll dressmakers go to town, for seasons and events, to satisfy all the doll collectors and doll lovers out there!

But here, our pink cold weather knit dresses have to do. And the dollies have lots of other pink to choose from! A favorite color around Dolltown!

The girls want the boys to dress up in pink too. Good luck, girls!

Pink has crossed the gender line. Boys these days are wearing pink, too. It's not just a girl's color anymore, unless you are a baby, a time when Pink and Blue are still signs of gender.

The luck is needed because the boys barely have enough to wear, without having colors like pink and purple to choose from!
